Christmas Party Etiquette

ID-10033348

There is etiquette for all business and social situations. Yes, even at the office Christmas party. While it is true it is a time to let your hair down, it is still a corporate event. Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO advises, “The bigwigs and the bosses will be watching, and possibly judging. Have some clean fun, while minding what you do.” She offers these tips:

1. Notify the host or party organizer if you are tagging someone along.

2. Check the dress code. Look glamorous. Aim for the party look, while still looking decent.

3. Drink in moderation so you will not end up regretting the next day. More so if you have to drive.

4. Do not engage in gossip. Choose safe, pleasant conversation topics.

5. Mingle courteously with people you do not know too well.

6. Keep your right hand free to shake hands.

7. Eat in moderation.

8. If the party is hosted by someone at work, bring a gift and remember to send a thank you note.
