Creative Thinking for Technical Writing

TalkShop Creative Technical WritingTechnical writing aims to inform, instruct, and move the reader into action. It is adopted for do-it-yourself (DIY) books, how-to manuals, and instructional guides. Unlike creative writing that calls for the emotional touch and makes use of rich imagery, technical writing is limited to presenting information in a user-friendly way.

Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO explains, “The challenge for technical writers is to present information in a simple, precise, and concise manner. They will have to deal with differing levels of experience and comprehension of readers. With globalization, writing across cultures is also a primary concern. In this aspect, there is a need for writers to cultivate creativity in terms of structuring and planning the material, in addition to using the precise words. Despite the limitations of technical writing, writers must learn to harness their creativity. In fact, any form of writing requires creativity.

TalkShop offers Technical Writing course using Integrated Language Teaching (ILT), 30% of which is facilitator-based, and 70% interactive learning. The course will be enhanced with guided exercises for logical sequencing of ideas and proper application of techniques, writing exercises for various forms of technical writing, non-technical considerations, and self-evaluation. The total corporate offering includes pre-test, post-test, conduct of the course, course materials, certificate with international affiliation, and 3-month monitoring. TalkShop, affiliated with the U.S.-based International English Education Research Association (IEERA) is the only ISO-certified and Civil Service-accredited trainer to the top corporations.
