Officers of GSIS’ Legal Secretary’s Office take the Critical Writing workshop at TalkShop. Participants are taught to develop their writing using the ongoing process of reflecting, listening, note-taking, and creative thinking.

TalkShop, the leading communication training institute and pioneer of Integrated Language Teaching (ILT) in the Philippines trains both students and executives on the different areas of writing.  Creative, business, technical, copy and critical writing are among them.

Critical writing participants are taught to form an effective argument presented in the form of reasoning, substantiated by evidence, and delivered in a clear, organized format.  Critical writing may have different formats (i.e., report, thesis, dissertation, projects, essay), yet always structured logically and lead to a cohesive conclusion.

Any critical writing participant may be challenged by its meticulous process.  Yet, in the end it is one most rewarding skill to develop.  TalkShop applies its interactive approach to teaching so writing participants may hone their varied range of skills and competencies in analysis, evaluation, and reasoning.

GSIS officers share their learning from TalkShop:

Chester B. Austria, Officer I, Office of the Legal Secretary – GSIS

It’s great that TalkShop’s Critical Writing Workshop is tailor-made for minute writers. The effort of the consultants to adjust the training to the needs and comments of the trainees is commendable. Thanks to them, I learned a lot of new ideas from today’s workshop. Also, TalkShop has helped me become more critical in synthesizing the objective and subjective parts of a statement.

TalkShop truly is the Best English School in the Philippines.

Raul Noel P. Gonzales, Officer I, Office of the Legal Secretary – GSIS

The TalkShop Consultants are considerate and very understanding of our workplace issues. I have been made aware of separately considering the objective and subjective angles – and these lessons will be very useful. Hopefully in the future I could learn more on oral presentation. Well done, TalkShop!

Roselle Pangilinan, Staff Officer III, Office of the Legal Secretary – GSIS

I think that the design of the workshop is great.  Time well spent with TalkShop, I learned a lot. The consultants are really interesting. I hope to be part of other communication trainings in the future. It was a good workshop, TalkShop! I look forward to next week’s session.

Eduardo Primicias, Officer I, Office of the Legal Secretary – GSIS

The workshop TalkShop prepared is very adaptive to our needs. The design of the workshop is well conceptualized as it adapts to the relevance of our daily duties. The consultants are well-prepared and articulate. This workshop helped me see the other aspects on how to approach my work. There were no boring segments and it kept me interested every minute. TalkShop made our training session fun and educational at the same time.

Frederick Recto, Staff Officer III, Office of the Legal Secretary – GSIS

I learned a lot in this workshop. I particularly like the discussion on how to differentiate objective and subjective writing. The TalkShop consultants are very articulate and knowledgeable in the subject matters. They also made me understand better the concepts of critical writing and analysis. I would like improve my speaking skills in a future workshop.

Janus Villanueva, Staff Officer II, Office of the Legal Secretary – GSIS

It was great learning about critical writing and expanding my knowledge on how to write objectively compared to writing subjectively. The TalkShop workshop has taught us to to focus more on objective writing. I also like the debate-minutes writing activity. After this workshop, my writing style has changed. It became a balance of creative and technical.

Thanks to Robert and Martin who are cool TalkShop consultants.
