1. Have a positive attitude towards work. Tackle it with enthusiasm and turn in quality work on time.

2. Cultivate a good relationship based on trust and respect. This does not require one to butter up. Being reliable is what counts.

3. Focus on the boss’ good traits. There is always something to learn from him.

4. Learn to read the boss’ moods and plan your moves to help him through the challenges of the day.

5. Listen more.

6. Don’t hold grudges. Move forward and concentrate on the work instead.

7. Know his work style. Morning or evening person? Stable or temperamental? Face- to-face or written updates?

It will do well to get to know the boss well and find out what makes him tick. It is best to practice honing EQ when situations gets challenging. But ultimately, respect always pays off.
