On Dealing with the Relaxed Corporate Life: Rev Up Your Energy

TalkShop corporate life tipsThe open workplace set-up offers ease and convenience. One only has to work on his computer, scoot with his chair to reach for supplies, and order food delivery to manage through the day. The downside is the sedentary lifestyle will take its toll some time, somehow.

Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO informs, “Being stationary at the work post saps one of energy. This goes against the body’s design for action. Hence, one feels energy ebbing by mid-day, for some even earlier. Workers have become so accustomed to being inert that movement has become unnatural. Some become lazy and sluggish. Productivity begins to slack. How does one counter this?

Viesca suggests the following activities:

1. Go out and walk briskly at mid-day.

2. Stand to stretch and walk about the room every hour.

3. Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration that can cause fatigue.

4. Breathe. Inhale and exhale deeply repeatedly to invigorate.

5. Instead of calling or emailing, talk face to face with colleagues.

6. Take lunch out for a change of scene.

7. Make wise food choices. Even when snacking, choose whole wheat bread, fruit, nuts, and seeds over sugary treats.

Take control of your well-being even at work by finding ways to keep moving. Keep active to get your bodily systems going as well, advises Viesca.
