There is no running away from it. Social media has invaded our lives and is most likely here to stay for the long-run. Gone are the days when social media was merely for the tech-savvy genius. Social Media has changed the way we live, for better or for worse, in a multitude of aspects. Most of us are on social media daily, using different social networks and applications to interact with one another, to get our fill of news and information, to air that creative lamentation, or to share that occasional cute cat video.

Social media has been ingrained into our daily lives so much that most industries run their business around it. Almost very aspect of business has made its way into the digital realm. Retailers have set up e-commerce shops that transact through Facebook and Instagram. Well-known brands use targeted advertising to reach their market. There are even certain businesses that operate exclusively through social media. Resellers, service providers, and even some manufacturers conduct their businesses on social networks, introducing and spreading awareness of their company profiles, creating a brand and steadily increasing its value, promoting their product lines, building and interacting with a network of customers and clients, and ultimately, cashing in on profits from online transactions.


On the other side of business, consumer/peer reviews have never been as powerful as they are now. Social Media has given individual consumers more power in terms of information dissemination than any news outlet or retail establishment had twenty years ago. The digital revolution has made it a necessity for every would-be business owner to learn the social media ropes to maximize the potential 2of each business endeavor undertaken.
