What Makes a Good Personality

TalkShop Personality TipsMany people associate personality with looks. An attractive person is therefore thought of as someone with a pleasing personality. That is just scratching the surface. Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO explains, “Personality encompasses a person’s mental and emotional states. To have a pleasing personality, one must focus on being the total package. It is best for one to develop himself from the inside. More than looks, one’s personality can determine how much opportunities he will enjoy in life.

How does one develop a good personality? Viesca shares these tips:

1. Know yourself. Be aware of your strengths that should be highlighted and flaws that you can work on. Build from there.

2. Appreciate your uniqueness. Do not compare yourself with others. Rather, set the bar higher based on your unique strengths.

3. Be confident. Think positive and use affirmative thoughts such as “All good things are coming my way,” “I can do this,” and “ I am smart, confident, and competent.” Self-talk has a way of bringing out the best in any one.

4. Speak simply, clearly, and decently. Aim for fluency which is an integral part of good personality. TalkShop, an English proficiency school offers Communication Excellence programs, using an interactive, evaluative teaching approach in a fun and supportive environment.

5. Dress well. Have a sense of style that is neat, clean, and professional-looking.

6. Expand your interests. Read books, magazines, listen to self-improvement CDs. Sharing ideas and information will make you more interesting.

7. Listen. Be interested in others. Do not monopolize the conversation.

8. Have a pleasant disposition. Stay calm and collected.

9. Laugh at yourself. Enjoy life.

10. Show integrity. Keep your word to earn the respect of others.

Viesca adds, “Most importantly, have a purpose in life. A pleasing personality is easy to achieve with a life that is driven by purpose and meaning.
