Asian Institute of Management’s MDM Students Commend TalkShop

TalkShop and AIM

Mediocrity in management and leadership, as in learning and teaching,  can be attributed to poor communication.  With the right training, communication can improve one’s status and future, as well as that of his organization’s. TalkShop understands that the point of good communication goes beyond grammar and pronunciation – it is to effect positive change, overcome obstacles, and achieve set goals.

Such belief and understanding is aligned with the direction of the Asian Institute of Management’s MDM Program that has adapted TalkShop’s Communication Excellence Training as the initial exposure of its graduate students before they immerse themselves in their masters program.  The course, designed by TalkShop CEO Sheila Viesca, aims to make the managers more adept at articulating their views, writing down coherent ideas, presenting with credibility.

Now on her fourth year working with AIM, the country’s leading management school,  Ms. Viesca continues to innovate the comprehensive training to adjust to the dynamics of the group and the requirements of the individual students.  The goal has always been to ensure that MDM students get better in effecting change through the power of communication. The activities are designed to help the MDM students become the best that they can be using the tools of communication and mastery of self-expression.

I felt it is essential for each of the MDM fellows to grow as a potential development leader.  TalkShop is very effective in helping us trim down the unnecessary issues and bad habits when it comes to talking and writing. I liked most of the interactive dialogues with Miss Sheila Viesca. These attract the learners the most and remove their fear of self-expressiona dn public speaking. Also, the TalkShop consultant seemed to me as a person who can speak from the heart in whatever mode of communication.

English is an international language that is personally improved by the individual. TalkShop opens  a gate of opportunities for all people who would like to achieve more as they speak English better. Thanks to TalkShop, I learned speaking skills, grammar, and sentence construction. I would also like to add that Miss Sheila Viesca has good pronunciation, communication, and presentation skills.

Because of the TalkShop class, I became more confident in my conversational English.  The class participation in TalkShop involved more than half of the class, which did not happen in other subjects. Basing on this observation, it is my opinion that the TalkShop class is more interactive and more students got to participate than in other subject. As for the TalkShop Consultant, Miss Sheila Viesca is very skilled and more than capable in doing the tasks required of her.

Syed Muneeb Idjos, Senior Program Officer

I am actually not in a position to comment on TalkShop lesson because it was only my second class. But based on my experience from the two classes, I can say that those who have attended the classes were very lucky to have such practical and knowledgeable sessions. Seeing their skills and teaching style, the TalkShop consultants and Miss Sheila Viesca, are very good.

During the four weeks with TalkShop in MDM, we have learned a number of useful skills in English communication. Thanks to good presentation and facilitation skills of TalkShop’s teachers and consultants especially Miss Sheila Viesca, the MDM students have learned various skills in communicating in English. Attending students show their active participation in the lesson and group work.
